Ultimate Conductivity

Silver Clad Copper Defining Limits

Up to 106% IACS conductivity. The premier conductor material designed for high-freq communication, precision medical, and high-end electronics.

RAYTRON manufactures ultra-precision Silver Clad Copper (SCC) wire, leveraging the skin effect to provide exceptional high-frequency signal transmission capabilities. The continuous silver cladding ensures remarkably low contact resistance, outstanding solderability, and superior tarnish resistance compared to standard copper. RAYTRON SCC conductors are engineered for critical applications in advanced medical devices, aerospace communications, and premium high-fidelity audio cables where signal integrity is paramount.

Manufacturing Process

This product is manufactured using Clad & Weld process with metallurgical bonding. It is NOT electroplated.

Metallurgical bonding creates a permanent metallurgical connection, ensuring stable reliability compared to electroplating. This enables excellent weldability, designed to resist peeling during bending, and stable performance under thermal cycling conditions.

💡 SCC conductivity exceeds pure copper, challenging physical limits

Exceeding 100% Conductivity

Utilizing pure silver's extremely low resistivity, pushing overall conductivity beyond copper's limit to an amazing 101%-106% IACS.

HF Skin Effect Expert

High-frequency current tends to adjust to the silver layer surface. SCC perfectly matches this physics, achieving the best results with minimal silver.

Stable Chemistry

Silver is chemically more stable than copper, maintaining long-term stability of contact resistance even in high heat or harsh environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Exploring the secrets of high-end conductor tech

What are the advantages of SCC compared to pure silver wire?
SCC retains the excellent surface conductivity and chemical stability of pure silver (especially in high-frequency applications), but at a fraction of the cost. Additionally, the copper core provides better mechanical strength than pure silver.
For what frequency applications is SCC primarily used?
Due to the skin effect, as frequency increases, current tends to flow on the conductor surface. Therefore, SCC is particularly suitable for high-frequency signal transmission from tens of MHz to GHz levels, where its performance is virtually identical to pure silver.
How much does silver layer thickness affect performance?
Silver layer thickness directly affects conductivity at high frequencies and oxidation resistance. We typically offer different silver thickness grades (e.g., 1.25µm, 6.1µm) based on international standards (like ASTM B298) to meet requirements of different frequency bands and environments.
Does SCC tarnish or oxidize easily?
Silver reacts with sulfur in the air to tarnish (sulfide), but this usually only affects appearance and has minimal impact on conductivity (silver oxide is still a good conductor). Compared to the severe oxidation of bare copper, SCC has much better chemical stability.
