Engineering FAQ Guide
NCC Strip: Dimensions, Edges and Welding FAQ
What is NCC Strip?
nickel clad copper strip for conductive and corrosion-resistant connections.
For nickel-clad copper strip, specify thickness, width, nickel-layer requirements and edge condition. Include the mating material, joint geometry and welding process so the sample can be checked for both electrical performance and joint quality.
Primary Applications
- lithium battery tabs
- energy storage connections
- chemical process connections
- hydrogen evaluation
Critical RFQ Specifications
- thickness
- width
- nickel ratio
- weldability
- surface
- traceability
Selection
Does a nickel surface establish suitability for every chemical environment?
No. State the medium, concentration, temperature, exposure time and whether cut edges, ends or weld zones expose copper. Evaluate the finished component against those conditions.
Specifications
How should the nickel layer be specified?
Give the nickel fraction with a mass, volume or area basis, or state the required layer thickness by face and the measurement method. Add total diameter or width and thickness, grade, condition and layer coverage.
Procurement
What should a NCC Strip inquiry include?
Include thickness, width, nickel ratio, weldability, surface, traceability, drawing revision, intended use, requested sample or production quantity, packaging and destination. Confirm the required inspection records and schedule for that specification.
Testing
What should be checked after joining or forming?
Inspect the nickel coverage, cracks, layer integrity and exposed copper after the actual bend or weld process. Record joint resistance, strength and relevant corrosion or thermal results for the same sample.
